To coincide with our STEM festival the Pre-Prep held special Forest School sessions that included a fire and lunch outside.
We have all participated in activities that even though we may not be aware, are linked to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The joy of being outside is learning without really realising.
Nursery had a snack and enjoyed a sing-a-long with Mrs Houston accompanying on guitar. After finishing off lunch with bananas and chocolate on the fire we made our way to the Cedar tree to immerse ourselves in numerous different activities.
The children fashioned moveable snakes made from Elder and pipe cleaners, as well as other activities such as bug hunting, using the outdoor scales, nest building & bird spotting to name a few. The Year 2’s had to create an aqueduct in order to get water from one position to another – this was needed to test our rafts made of natural materials. On top of that we had our very own Forest School “photo-booth” with smiling faces capturing a moment in the woods.
Hazlegrove PrePrep children are happy children…
