A brilliant first half of Spring term for Year 1

Year 1 have had a wonderful first half of term and the weather has kept us on our toes.

It has been great spotting the changes in the woods and watching the snowdrops appear, we are looking forward to the first daffodils arriving and signs of spring. The ice marbles were fascinating and coincided with our cold spell and we watched what happened when salt was added and enjoyed creating a giant marble run.

We’ve made bird feeders from apples with pumpkin and sunflower seeds and have whittled our own woodland pencils using potato peelers and hazel. The children showed enormous perseverance with this and were taught the importance of safe tool use.
