Year 2 travelled back in time to September 1666, that fateful Sunday morning when the bread oven in the Baker’s house started The Great Fire of London.
The children recreated this by making their own houses. We discussed the materials that were used at that time and how this would have made them very flammable, which was evident in our own fire.
Our houses were placed close together and the children witnessed that this made the fire spread quickly with the help of the strong wind, just like the conditions of 1666.
