The wet and windy weather has been perfect for Year 1 who have been learning about the weather in their Science lessons. In groups they made rain gauges to measure precipitation, experiencing the problems of experimentation first hand as results varied considerably! The children have learnt that some of the sites chosen were better than others at ensuring an accurate reading and that they need to choose a spot that is both sheltered from the wind, so that their gauge doesn’t blow over whilst also being in an open position so that it collects maximum rainfall.
This week we have been making wind socks to show wind strength and direction and next week we will be looking at temperature.
Hazlegrove PrePrep children are happy children…
