The children have watched in wonder as the caterpillars they have had in their classroom ate and ate and ate and then hung themselves upside down ready for the next stage of their development, becoming cocoons.
Over the following days, the children waited, with great anticipation, to see which cocoon or chrysalis would open first! It was so exciting to see the butterflies emerge and straighten out their crumpled wings before using their long proboscis to drink sweet juice from the fruit. After observing them for a few days it was wonderful to release them into the warm sunshine and watch them in the Pre-Prep Garden, which has been planted especially to attract bees and butterflies.
Hazlegrove PrePrep children are happy children…
