Exploring ice and frost at Forest School

A cold week for forest school and a perfect way to explore the ice and frost.  Magnifying glasses at the ready we watched ice crack when salt was added.  We discussed how water changes from a liquid to a solid when the temperature gets colder and we observed how sometimes the ice was transparent and at other times opaque.  Of course we had to see how far the ice balls would roll and constructed wonderful ‘marble runs’ in the woods. A lot of fun was had by all!
