The Reception class have been enjoying a visit from a group of fairies who have been helping them with this half of term’s topic, Traditional Tales. The fairies brought the class a wooden chest containing lots of items related to Jack and the Beanstalk. The children thoroughly enjoyed retelling the story, creating menacing giants and growing their own beanstalks. The Reception children then went on to tell the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. They cooked and tasted porridge in Forest School and had great, if a little messy, fun exploring and describing the consistency of porridge. The story of the Three Little Pigs inspired them to set up their own construction site and they have been using foam bricks and wooden blocks to create shelters and dens. The children have also enjoyed hearing the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and The Gingerbread man.
